Rough Sound Edit

This is a rough sound edit of our opening sequence, all of the sounds are in correct places and match up to the events happening within the sequence.

From this and from comments from our teacher, we need to now concentrate on the volume of sounds as footsteps for example are too loud compared to other sounds. Also, in the beginning as well as the birds in the background we are going to add more audible wind to empathise that she is isolated and separated from society and reality in an unknown place. As well as this, we are going to add a soundtrack ontop of the book as apart from the page turning it is silent, a soundtrack will help build up the tension and show to the audience that something isnt right and that something is getting closer to her, but we dont know what.

The comments we have recieved have been very useful as it means that from this we can now finalise the sound and are close to finishing.

Rough Edit

Here is the rough edit of our opening sequence, since making this our group have decided to get rid of parts of the sequence, such as the close up of the dolls face as we feel is doesn't fit and the colour and contrast looks too superficial comparing it to the rest of the film. Also we have taken away one shot as our character walks into the building, as the side angle doesn't flow with the rest of the clips during that scene. Also, from watching this we have decided to re film the ballerina to just have it spinning in a single shot without the candle next to it, as we feel it will look better.

Making a rough edit has been useful as it shows that we need to re film the book pages as they are diffcult to see in the light and it shows that our story does make sense and can be followed which will help appeal to our target audience.

From this we now need to finalise the individual clips and their placement to ensure that our opening sequence flows effectively and we need to begin to add sound to our piece to make it look real and professional.

Before adding sound we have created a sound list, these are sounds we can download off of the internet and need to create for ourselves:

• wind, birds, outside noises

These are the main sound effects that we will need to create the horror genre and a spooky atmosphere, as we begin to create the sound edit we may need to add additional sounds to heighten the effect. 

Production - Filming

This is a time lapse from our filming, I think this is useful as it shows the different conditions we tried to expand our production, as you can see we filmed in the dark using tourches and candles to create the dark and creepy atmosphere we hope to create. We constantly moved around the office and downstairs and also outside, we experimented with different shots and angles and distances to try and make our production look as best as it possibly could. 

Moving on from filming, we need to begin to produce a rough edit of our opening sequence, to make sure all of our clips flow together to form a story and to see whether or not we need to go back to our location to film additional pieces that we might have missed over the days filming.
